No. 20 Florida remains perfect at home with rout of Jacksonville

Florida (3-1) dominated Jacksonville University (1-1-1) 6-0 at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. UF completely took over the match, outshooting the Dolphins 16-1 and remaining perfect all-time against Jacksonville. The Gators’ six goals marked their highest single-game total since Aug. 27, 2023, when they defeated Stetson 8-0.

OPINION: Throw the Fishback, but keep the hook

While Fishback is primarily a provocateur, he built a sizable political coalition supported by a real platform. It would be a mistake to discount Fishback’s support as entirely based on instigation. Democrats should analyze how and why Fishback attracted so many young voters to see how they can appeal to his disappointed supporters.

Former Gator Xaivian Lee transfers to Gonzaga for fifth year

Former Gator Xaivian Lee transferred to Gonzaga Wednesday after receiving a temporary restraining order from the state of California, per On3’s Joe Tipton. This move comes after Lee announced that he planned to enter the transfer portal on Aug. 18, seeking a new opportunity in his fifth collegiate season.


The One Big Beautiful Bill has brought about new troubles for students in America. Students will now be capped at certain loan amounts per academic year, making financing for higher education increasingly difficult..

Florida struck down international student aid. What’s next?

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Florida House Bill 905, also known as the Foreign Interference Restriction Act, May of this year. The law shut down the Florida Linkage Institution Scholarships, a program that allowed international students from 11 countries to qualify for in-state tuition at Florida public schools. With it, eligible international students saw their tuition costs drop by as much as $28,000 — or more than 80%.

UF ranked top 4 public university in Time magazine list

Time magazine named UF the fourth best public university and 16th overall in its America’s Best Colleges of 2026-2027 list. Released Tuesday, the ranking placed UF highest among Florida universities, surpassing Florida State University at No. 53 and the University of Central Florida at No. 195.

‘Y2Gay’ assembly highlights community in the face of uncertainty

The Pride Student Union, the largest LGBTQ+ organization at UF, organizes annual welcome assemblies for queer students and aims to create an open, safe and inclusive environment. With the loss of the assembly’s Signature Event designation in 2025, PSU faced funding challenges for this year's event. Despite operating on a smaller budget, funded by the UF Student Government, the event ran smoothly.

Where Gators can get a taste of game day this football season

As students fill tailgates, restaurants in downtown Gainesville and the walkways surrounding Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, local restaurants and pop-ups fuel Gators through game day. Food trucks line Gator Walk hours before kickoff, serving fans through the first quarter, while Gainesville staples such as The Swamp Restaurant and Mom’s OG Pub and Grill keep the crowd going long after kickoff.

OPINION: Gainesville is more than just the Gators

While The Swamp attracts tens of thousands of young adults each year, Gainesville's off-campus attractions often go unnoticed. Overpowered by the college’s academic reputation, many students and Florida residents are unaware of the local businesses, community spaces and culture this city has to offer.

Florida’s 2026 primary election results are in, with just over 25% of Florida’s registered voters turning out to vote in Aug. 18’s election. Because Florida is a closed primary state, only registered members of political parties could vote in the primary election. The state has about 5.6 million registered Republicans, 4 million registered Democrats and 3.3 million registered with no party affiliation.

Taylor and Emmanuel earn SEC weekly honors

After a magical Sunday in which everything went right for the Gators, Florida seniors Kyra Taylor and Jayden Emmanuel earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors. Taylor was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week after recording a brace in each of Florida’s two victories, while Emmanuel earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


Balancing work, school and everything else has gotten harder for UF students as costs rise.

How are UF students covering rising costs this school year?

If traffic cooperates, the drive from Cape Canaveral to Gainesville takes about three hours. Eli Stewart made that trip every few weeks this Summer, squeezing in a shift at a campus molecular lab before turning around and driving back home. The lab is one of two paid jobs he works year-round, on top of a full course load and freelance web design.

Nick Zimmerman ushers in new era for Florida soccer

A new coach often brings familiar players, and a significant portion of Florida’s 2026 transfer class followed Zimmerman from Mississippi State to Gainesville. Seven Bulldogs made the move after combining for 17 goals in 2025, accounting for almost half of their scoring.
